Why do dogs need worming?

Worms are everywhere, and they are easily spread. This means your dog can easily pick up a worm from another pet or their environment. Gastrointestinal worms can cause real damage to the gut lining of a dog or puppy, which is why you need to regularly treat your dog and break the cycle of infection.

Unfortunately, your dog will often show few (if any) noticeable signs of infection, so they may pick up a worm without you realising it straight away. If left untreated or inconsistently treated, worms can pose a health risk to your dog and your family.

Drontal provides your pet with complete coverage against gastrointestinal worms, as well as controlling the shedding of Giardia spp cysts. Our treatment is required every three months (rather than monthly) and comes in a range of chews, tablets or a puppy suspension to make treating your pet as easy as possible.

You should be dosing your dog with Drontal For Large Dogs, Allwormer Chews every three months, or at the beginning of every season to help control Roundworms, Hookworms, Whipworms and Tapeworms. Treat with Drontal every 6 weeks in Hydatid tapeworm infested locations. If whipworm is a problem, retreat every 6-8 weeks.

Intestinal Worms Treatment Recommendations

Worms can infect dogs in many ways, so it is necessary to;

• treat the dog itself
• reduce the environmental contamination by daily disposal of droppings
• remove tapeworm intermediate hosts eg. fleas
• never allow dogs to feed on offal of any species

• Disposal - Dispose of empty container and packaging by wrapping in paper and putting in garbage.
• Storage - Store below 30°C (room temperature).
